Canno's Swiss Tavern is an anomaly among New York
clubs. Jimmy will let you do just about anything, anytime, in his space.
Rehearsal in the afternoon? No problem (and no charge). A George
Harrison birthday tribute? Got it. A benefit concert to raise money for
someone's hospital bills? Absolutely. You wouldn't believe some of the
hoops that musicians have to jump through to get ONE GIG in some of the
small venues in this town; with Jimmy, you're always a phone call away
from another date on your calendar. Jimmy is more than a bar owner; he's
a true Patron Of The Arts, giving some of New York's finest musicians a
safe haven in which to ply their trade without the hassles and
distractions that are par for the course in so many other venues. After
touring the world and elsewhere backing up stars like Billy Joel, Alice
Cooper, Alan Parsons and John Entwistle, a New York-based musician can
stroll into Canno's and be made to feel welcome, appreciated and
nurtured. Jimmy says that he will be keeping the
Canno's website
active, and to stay in touch. So the dream is not quite over yet, folks;
stay tuned.

Montagna – Bass Player For Alan Parsons
Saturday nite was the acoustic
duo at Gabrielle's in Rockville Center with Godfrey Townsend. Nice
place, great people. Tending bar was that famous patron of the arts,
none other than Jimmy Canno. Godfrey and I pulled some great stuff out
of our hat(s), and hanging out with Jimmy and some of our old buddies
made it almost feel like we were back at Canno's Swiss Tavern. Good
times
